Seriously, what happens after this life? Where do we go? Where do we come from? My grandfather will be leaving soon, and my daughter will be arriving soon. This weekend I wondered to myself, if he leaves before she arrives, is there any chance of his soul entering her body…
… and then I realized how silly that is. Her soul has been in her body for months by now. It was the first moment I clearly realized that birth is not the first day of life. My daughter already has a soul, she already has that unique spark which will continue through all of her life changes.
My grandfather’s soul, too, is still beautifully intact even though his body has all but fallen apart. As his body wears down, his soul endures, making it clear to me that on the day his body finally does turn off, his soul will simply be released from that capsule.
But released to where? Is this really an answer we only can know by going there ourselves? Such questions…
